To the Jews At the Kansas City Jewish Center

To the Jews At the Kansas City Jewish Center

We love you. We like you. We care about you. We really want you to be happy. One thing we know, however, is that mass shootings , even those that are aimed towards religious communities (in the United States at least) are hardly ever motivated by religious persecutors.

CNN is alluding to the idea that the Kansas City Jewish Center Shooting was a hate crime.

For all we know, it is just an idea.

In the past, shootings at churches, mosques, temples, and shrines have very rarely been motivated by religious persecutors.

At least not in the United States.

CNN is proposing an idea that should not be at the forefront of people's minds on this issue as it is an idea that has rarely crossed the mind of past shooters who opened fire in religious areas and buildings.

Again, if you look every mass shooter in the United States' history, shooters rarely discuss their motivations in even non-religious surroundings as being motivated by religious persecution.

Sure, the Virginia Tech shooter believed he was Jesus Christ reincarnated. Marilyn Manson though he was doing God's work, and many genocides have been carried out in the name of religion.

But, if you label this as what it is, a mass shooting, and you run the numbers against every other mass shooting in the United States' history the odds of it being motivated by religious persecution is actually a minority of the numbers. More often than not, that is, it will not be motivated by religion in any way.

As such the odds that this is was a religiously motivated persecution of Jews is statistically inappropriate.

A better way to rephrase this would be, "Although statistically unlikely, the odds of the shooting being motivated by religious persecution was recently declared by us as an appropriate possibility. However, seeing as the we've now run the numbers and it is statistically inappropriate to allude to the idea we have rescinded that statement as we recognize a clearly hasty allusion was made and it was intended solely to garner media publicity at the expense of causing mass hysteria throughout the Jewish Community. We apologize for our greed and our crass narcissism."

Guns

Guns

Guns are a bit of a big issue for me. I've had mixed experience with guns. Both legal and illegal experiences. Self-defense situations as well as sports-shooting experiences. Unfortunately I've long since acknowledged that there are gun laws on the books today that I feel are not strict enough considering that I know people who I myself do not consider as fit to own a firearm that own several.

In my experience these individuals do own firearms and are not afraid to use them against individuals whom they've disrespected openly in public and treat with the utmost disrespect imaginable.

They have bad things coming to them and don't respect human life or dignity and are not afraid to violate it if they see fit to do so.

Gun laws have not closed the capability of individuals such as these from acquiring firearms and I doubt it ever will. The black market for guns is unimaginably large and the legal market is largely unregulated.

In America, today, you can go out and by a gun as a gift for someone else other than yourself without naming that person on any legal document before, during, or after leaving the point of sale and the gun can pretty much go anywhere from that point be it legally, illegally or otherwise.

It can be sold to a schizophrenic on the street who sells heroine to scrape by and support his own addiction or a family friend who still has two years until he can buy his own guns but has been depressed lately.
Guns, in my opinion, need stricter regulations.

The Aurora Shooting

The Aurora Shooting

Essentially, the picture above displays Heath Ledger. Heath Ledger famously played The Joker in the movie The Dark Knight and was famously quoted as being "scared of himself" while playing the role.
Ledger said he didn't like The Joker character and after filming was done Ledger soon overdosed.

The character Joker in the movie came to be associated with Heath Ledger's suicide and many problems afterwards have come about, arguably, as a result of this suicidal symbol.

That there can be such a strong popular culture symbol, The Joker, that is so closely associated with suicide is unthinkable.

In my opinion the movie should have never aired. That they considered it a testimony to the acting career of Heath Ledger felt insulting.

Many cite the Dark Knight Movie Premiere on July 20, 2012 in Aurora, Colorado at the Century Theater in Downtown Aurora where the now infamous Aurora Theater Shooting occurred.

It started when James Eagen Holmes walked into the movie in full riot squad gear armed to the teeth with military grade weaponry shot and injured 82 people, killing 12.

Afterwards, Holmes admitted that he wanted to be like, "The Joker" from "The Dark Knight", a character associated with mayhem, menacing, and, because of Heath Ledger, suicide.

In this person's opinion, what was done was humorous and said, "I'd do it again."

This individual felt no remorse and did in fact believe that what he did and what happened to 82 people who were shot, killed, or injured was comedic.

Now, if anyone thinks this is funny i'd question their definition of comedy.

Being in a situation such as the one Holmes was in would not be comedic as it would be terrifying.

For Holmes it may have been comedic as he was in full control of the mayhem he'd created but there is not sense thing as comedy that derives it's value from human suffering.

A few ill-reputed remarks? Sure

I feel a little angry about it afterwards? Great.

I get over it and we still dick around because we're cool like that? Of course.

Just don't crack any sarcastic, "I'm gonna commit an massacre and here's how" jokes.
